Lola's Vet Visit

Lola weighed in at 46 lbs. The vet says she is a perfect weight. She had a fecal test done and she has no parasites. Lola has severe dental disease which is causing her horrible breath. We have to schedule her an appointment where they will cut away some of her gums. They said that her plaque is severe and her gums grew over it. That's a treatment with a total of $182.33. Nice. Lola has allergies also. We were given eye drops for her eye puffiness and more medicated wipes for her wrinkles. Overall she is in good health.

I was really surprised that Kelli emailed me back to tell me that Lola is in fact not microchipped, but tattooed. I did send her an email asking if she could possibly give me the real age of Lola. She says that Lola's birthday is March 16, 2006. She's almost 4. She also gave me the name of the hospital where she says Lola was treated (for what, she didn't say) and said she would call and release the records to our vet. We will see if that happens or not.

In an email she sent she said that she has all of Lola's papers and in her most recent email she said that "owner" said they gave them to us. Wrong, but whatever.

We are so happy that Lola is fine. The vet wants to wait until Lola has her next heat cycle before she is fixed since we are not even sure whether she is fixed or not. She received her rabies shot so now she can be registered with the city.

Overall it went well. I don't think that Lola enjoyed it very much, she was violated a few times. Lol

As for now, I am done with these scamming fools. We know that Lola is pretty healthy and will be fine. We don't care if we ever see AKC papers, we just hope that no one else gets scammed.

Until next time....
hehehe

Lola: The Beginning

For years our family has been wanting an English Bulldog. With the economy the way it is, financially it just wasn't possible to purchase a puppy. We signed up with several adoptabully websites in hopes of getting a chance to adopt a bully that would work great with our family. It took months to finally get a chance to apply for bulldog that needed a new home. We were contacted by Kelli from KB's Beauties & Beasts on January 14th regarding 2 new bullys that needed homes. We read about their backgrounds and applied to adopt both of them. We were so excited to hurry up and wait....

On February 3, 2010, Kelli sent me an email asking if we were still interested in adopting Lola. I was so excited and immediately told her YES!! Kelli called to see what time would be best to pick her up and if we were still ok with paying $800 for her. We agreed on price and were to pick up Lola from her "owner" the next day. She gave us the "owners" phone number to call for time and directions. Kelli explained that Lola belonged to "owner" and she was the "middle man" for the adoption.

On February 5, 2010 we made the trip to Tomball to pick up Lola. We arrived at "owners" house around 2:20 in the afternoon with a very cranky toddler. Turns out, car rides aren't her thing. The "owner" met us outside with Lola. "Owner" told us about her diet, her snacks, her temperment, bathing and that she was in perfect health. He pointed out that she had blue eyes and was very "needy". He explained that Lola did not play well with his other bullys, but was generally not aggressive. We asked basic care questions on Lola. "Owner" was more than happy to share the information and even seemed a tad sad to see her go. I asked about her medical records and registration before leaving and was told that Kelli had them, just contact her.

We brought Lola home and everyone instantly fell in love. She walks around the house like she has been here forever. We have since learned that she is scared of the vacuum cleaner and blow dryer. She is so well behaved and totally house broken. I have never heard a dog make so much noise. Oh and the smell that she omits from her behind....wow. Her breath isn't to hot either.

On Sunday, February 7th, I decided to send Kelli an email with pictures of Lola attached. I expressed my gratitude for allowing us to adopt Lola, how happy we were and how happy she was. I also mentioned that "owner" said that she had Lola's papers and I needed to contact her to retrieve them. A few hours later I received a response. She confirmed that she did have all of Lola's papers and that we were not allowed to breed her. That if in fact we wanted to breed her that we could sign a contract with her. That she "would love one more person to help produce babies because she just can't keep up with the demand." Umm, ok. I am not speechless very often, but damn. I went back and reread my email to make sure that I didn't say anything about breeding that would spark a response like that. I didn't. It was still weird that she didn't ask about Lola or our family. I replied back to her that we had no intentions of breeding her. We were told by "owner" to get it from you so that is what I was doing. Simple enough, or so I thought. I explained that we needed her shot record to register her with the city and get her tags. That we would also like to get Lola microchipped. You can't take your pet to play at PetSmart with out records....

Are you still with me??? Ok.. She returned with "she is already microchipped, so don't do it again." Ugh, ok. I thought about it for a while and decided that maybe there has been some miscommunication along the way. I sat at my computer to send her an email explaining in detail what our intentions were, what we needed from her and hoped that this may clear the air.

I explained that the AKC registration was not really important to us. I am not interested in breeding, dealing with a pregnant dog or a litter of puppies that need around the clock care. I have kids and that is enough for me. I also explained that I understand if in the past that she has been taken advantage of from adopted families breeding the bully without getting her in on the money. *shrugs* It would just make more sense to have her fixed before the adoption. Of course I had to include that maybe if she reworded her email so that it didn't come off with a little accusing attitude or simply just talked with us that maybe, just maybe it would have cleared the air a tad. But, what do I know.

I went on to explain to her that if in fact that she was microchipped we would like the paper work so that we can have that information changed. My understanding is that the microchip is placed to identify and return Lola to her owners in the event she gets lost. Right? Moving on... Her medical records. We would like them. Preferably all the originals, but will take copies. I don't see why she would need such information any longer. We also requested some sort of receipt or documentation that Lola now belongs to our family. Only fair.

Twenty four hours later and still no response.

I decided to look back through Kelli's information and came upon a description of Lola. A pure white 3 1/2 year old female. Umm, really?? Really? We were told she was 2. So is she 2 or 3 1/2?? Not to sound dumb, but I am not sure what pure white means. Is she all white? No. Is she pure meaning she hasn't been to a salon to have her hair dyed? Probably not. It raised an eyebrow, but who knows. With the age discrepancy we decided to go back through emails and discuss things that we have been told by Kelli and "owner".

Age - 2 or 3 1/2

Kelli told me that Lola belonged to "owner"
"Owner" told Paul that he was a foster home for Lola.

**If that is the case then wouldn't he have all of Lola's papers?? But it does make sense being that we were told to pay him. Who knows. We still haven't heard back from Kelli.

We decided to look into some English Bulldog Rescue and Adoption websites to see just how things were handled there. Even asked a few questions to see if they could possibly help us. I also looked into the SPCA website and found they will scan your dogs microchip for free!! I printed out what "proof" I had that Lola was ours and we made a trip to Alvin SPCA. We briefly explained what was going on or not going on. Lol. She scanned Lola's whole body and found NO microchip. Have we been lied to again?? Seriously?? The officer gave us the names of some vets and clinics. We were told to go ahead and have her rabies vaccine and bring back the certificate so that she can be registered and get her tags.

We have an appointment today at 3:00 for a general health check up, a rabies vaccine and a microchip scan.

Now, we are not concerned about her AKC registration or lack there of. That is unimportant. She is a wonderful pet and papers aren't going to change that. We are concerned about her health. We have been lied to already so I certainly do not believe what we have been told about her health. What if she needs medication and treatment? Would you seriously lie about that just to sell a dog and know that she isn't getting the care she needs? With all of the lying going on...I am of course worried that the only "proof" of ownership we have are emails. If in fact the vet verifies that she is not microchipped then she will be immediately.

Once we are back from the vet I will update.
